Your iris (the coloured part of your eye) is unique to you. There are 6 billion sets of eyes in the world
and no two irises are ever the same. Iridology or iris analysis is a simple, painless and non-invasive
technique to assess the individual’s state of health. Each iris contains a pattern of colours,
pigments, structures, textures and markings unique to the individual. These features form a map giving
valuable information about the genetic strengths, weaknesses and general state of well-being.
There are 3 main constitutions:
Lymphatic - mainly blue or blue grey
Biliary - mixed blue, brown, hazel
Haematogenic - very dark brown
These basic groups are then broken down into several sub groups, before the iris is studied more closely
for organ and system markings.
What is Iridology?
Each part of the iris relates to a specific area or system in the body indicating genetic markings
which have been passed from parent to child. Although iris analysis is not used to directly diagnose
specific
diseases, it can identify potential weakness of organ and organ systems often years before symptoms
become apparent.

The History of Iridology
In Greek mythology the word Iris comes from the goddess of the rainbow and messenger of the gods.
The Chinese discerned health tendencies from the size, shape, and set of the eyes, and in Indian Ayurvedic
tradition, eye colour is part of a person’s dosha or constitution. There is much evidence of Iridology
being used over thousands of years in ancient Egypt. Hippocrates wrote about using a patient’s eyes to
help his diagnosis.
An Iridology assessment
On your first consultation, we will complete a case history noting any medication you may be taking, lifestyle,
ailments and any conditions past and present. Advice may be given in areas such as diet, herbs, posture,
fluid intake, exercise etc. Iris examination involves briefly examining the iris in each eye using an illuminated
lens. Digital photographs of the eyes are taken so that the findings can be clearly shown on a computer screen
and explained. A report will be printed off with the advice given. It is still possible to examine the iris
if clear contact lenses are worn.

the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists the same year.
How much does it cost?
